Colour Material Finish

TEAM
I worked with Karina Tanaami for this project.

context
Another bland SSD?
The ssd and hard disk market is saturated, with more and more rectangular designs.
How can I make design a ssd that stands out in a saturated market. How can I add a personality to the form? Can I improve the experience around it?
Inspiration
Around the horizon
I started looking into the trend of using a complementary colour palate and colour blocking.  And eventually I got inspired by the colours around the sky and the different times of the day. From morning to midnight we can notice how contrasting colours of blue and orange play together.
Creativity
Okay this one is final, um but...
I started sketching out ideas of how I can translate the skyline into the form. Making quick mockups of the silhouette but using the materials around me. Working on the wire details was not so straightforward. Every other day I used to think "okay this is the final one", but sooner to later that idea would get scraped and a new one would take its place.
Exploring
Touch, Feel and Sense!
I always notice the materials around me. So I collected thee materials that I thought you work well with the design. I wanted to incorporate a cloudy material as the body to add to the theme. I started building a family of colours that will suit the design and the collection.
solution
Ta dah!
Slide and connect
All you need to do is unlock the wire by sliding it. Once its free you can easily to connect to the laptop.
Ooo the colours !
Translating the colours into the design keeping in mind the time of the day. A white shell and a blue body inspired from the noon sky and so on.
